This series invites participants into the less familiar Christmas characters in the Gospels, with this lesson focusing on the “surprise party” the shepherds throw for Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus. This lesson pushes young people to think more deeply about one of the bible’s most familiar texts and consider what it means that this message came to those on the margins.
This lesson – packed with games, interactive activities, scripture exploration, and theological reflection – invites participants into considering the ways God may show up in the margins today, and what that means for our faith.
